Inherit the Earth

Image

We are:

specks of dust fluttering
down on green foliage;

murderers and thieves
sitting in a cell

arguing about truth, love
and restorative justice.

We are:

buckwheat in a wine press,
living stone burning.

If we were galaxies,
I want us to be glorious

in constellations,
800 billion suns and
50,000 light years across,

28 million light years ago.

    • Yes, indeed, I would love to live there too, however I do feel that I might get homesick for the good o’l Milky Way pretty soon though. 🙂 Thanks for coming by and dropping a note.

  2. You have written a poem that spans the Milky Way, perhaps my favorite poetic piece, in the sense that that lyricism in it was quite uplifted and tight, don’t get me wrong I enjoy your social commentary, but this was at a different level of artistic wholeness.

I like how you depict humanity as brutal parasites seeking to control and mess up nature. I mean, to a certain degree, that’s the very definition of the industrial age right on to Patriarchal capitalism.
