  1. One of the few haikus I find inspiring…

Immigrants; yes, I married one and now I am deep in extraterrestrial love –
    with a resident legal alien…
I crossed her borders to speak her language.

    • Hi Mikial, thanks so much for asking, I am currently working on a chapbook of poetry and photography, and I will be sure to let you know once it is out. 🙂

  3. Very nice, but I’d counter they’re not even etched in soil, but depictions on paper, the imaginings of people who see the necessity of division where, for a good part of human history, there was none. So we’ve been conditioned to fear a global community; the “New World Order” is evil, and a united world means the decay of everyone’s freedoms… I think Star Trek got the idea right, though.

Very lovely piece, Alicia! Apologies for the semi-rant. 🙂 You’ve touched on an issue I’ve never understood. That is, the ‘why’ of borders.

    • Thanks for leaving your thoughts Sahm! I like hearing from fellow poets, especially those who are passionate about these issues 🙂 Like Elie Wiesel said, “No human being is illegal.”

Yes, we have been conditioned to believe many things, and that’s why artists are important, to challenge these issues and express what everyone else does not dare to say, or never even thought they had the freedom of thinking.

Wonderful rant! Keep your thoughts coming! 🙂

  4. Sean and Bruiser….. I lived in Australia for over a year. I had an amazing experience

Only I say that cause the time in Perth was like an excerpt from the Stephen King gunslinger series, or Mad Max future world. So I just pretend Perth is a territory of East Africa, that’s not the Australia I love.

I enjoyed the read, though my Conservative Libertarian egos clash, and ultimately urinate on most liberal view points. Those are people I see on TV, they never wanna be my friend. I’m Del Mar bound,, Dad, and an extra ticket. I know it’s crazy last minute. But, long story. If somehow you just are neurotic and brave enough, combined with actual free time. Put on a skimpy SUNDAY dress and be at the new train station by the Big A. 845am. But that’s really not practical. So hAve an amazing day either way. I know one soul who would be ecstatic if you never showed up again. But I know another who thinks maybe a little time, patience and “food” would be well worth the risk, plus the views are spectacular.
