“You’ve got to burn straight up and down and then maybe sideways for a while and have your guts scrambled by a bully and the demonic ladies, you’ve got to run along the edge of madness teetering, you’ve got to starve like a winter alleycat, you’ve got to live with the imbecility of at least a dozen cities, and then maybe maybe maybe you might know where you are for a tiny blinking moment.” -Bukowski

  1. Hi Alicia. Thanks so much for the ‘Like’, and for choosing to follow my blog. I’m still very new to this, and any encouragement is really appreciated!

    • Hi beeseeker, did you know my dream is to be a beekeeper? Thanks for coming by, NaNoWriMo is coming up in November, all us writing bees are buzzing, gearing up for the harvesting. 🙂

  3. Alicia, I am sooo honored that you liked “Taos, New Mexico 1991” and have chosen to follow me. I looked briefly at some of your writing and KNOW I will be following your work as well. And not from some dull sense of reciprocity, but because your “voice” is one I need to hear — Excellent!!

    • Dear R, I am glad you like my voice! I love Taos, New Mexico 1991 because you bring the reader to a place of your experience and I felt like I was breathing the same air that was there, engulfed, enveloped and entranced. You have great talent and I look forward to perusing more of your work for inspiration and edification.

  4. I’m actually very jealous that ‘existentialism’ is one of your most common tags, I grew up on Nietzsche. I can’t wait to read your next poem!

  8. Hi Alicia – Thanks for liking many of my haiku. You know, these are actual postcards I mail to people. Each haiku on one card, each card to one person selected at random. I’d be honored to mail one to you.

    • Hi Andy, thank you for the comment you left here, I would love to receive a haiku from you. I think it’s lovely that your art is so interactive and connects people together. Truly interesting.

      • Hi Alicia. Thanks for that. It means a lot to me. I would love to send you a card. Email me a snail mail address and I’ll put your name on the random-selection hat. andrew.o.dugas (at) gmail dotcom. Best, AD

    • Yes I did enjoy your poems, thank you for the compliment. Hopefully we will be able to write more poetry that inspires dialogue and critical thinking about the world we live in.

  9. I like your blog and your poetry – especially the interweaving of God and the scriptures with your poetic vision. Thanks for checking my blog and I will continue to visit here for inspiration.
